How do I know if someone has WhatsApp?
Whatsapp is Cross-Platform Messaging service which is now owned by Facebook. It uses Phone number to register in whatsapp. The identity of whatsapp account is also its registered Mobile number.
So it you have the phone number, you can check weather the number has registered on whatsapp and using it. Otherwise no way.
To know if the number is registered in whatsapp, just save the number in your address book and open your whatsapp. Then search for the saved contact and open chats. If the number is registered in whatsapp and still have account, then you will see the contact in whatsapp. Otherwise whatsapp will show to invite him.
If contact is available in whatsapp and you can open chat, then you may see information like Profile picture, Last Seen, Text Status.
